The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky Gaballah, Dean of the Faculty, and attended by members of the Department Council. This meeting was part of the early preparations for the start of the new academic year and aimed to continue efforts to develop the educational and research process and enhance the academic and administrative performance of the department.

The council began its session by approving the minutes of the previous meeting and discussing several organizational and academic matters related to the department's preparations for the new academic year. Dr. Ibtihal Magdy was selected as the secretary of the department council for the 2026/2027 academic year. The council also organized and assigned faculty members to scientific committees to enhance the efficiency of institutional work within the department.

The council discussed several files related to education and students, most notably the approval of the undergraduate curriculum for the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year and the formation of a committee to monitor the educational process, ensuring the smooth running of classes and the achievement of the objectives of the courses and academic programs.

The council also discussed the graduation project proposals for students in the Journalism, Radio, and Television Specialist Preparation Program and the School Theater Specialist Preparation Program for the first semester. Among these proposals was a project addressing media and combating the spread of crime in society, reflecting the department's commitment to connecting student projects to contemporary social issues and developing their ability to utilize media tools for awareness campaigns and community service.

⭕In preparation for the exams, the council approved the formation of the applied examination control committee for the Department of Educational Media for the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, across all levels and sections. This aims to enhance the accuracy and discipline of the assessment and examination processes.

⭕The council also discussed a proposal to expand the schools hosting field training students by including primary schools alongside preparatory and secondary schools. This expansion aims to reduce the size of training groups, provide more suitable field training opportunities for students, and overcome the challenges encountered in student placement during the previous academic year.

⭕The council also addressed the formation of a committee to review the files of students transferring from other universities and conduct the necessary credit transfers, in accordance with the regulations governing study at the college and department.

⭕Regarding postgraduate studies, the council discussed several important topics related to diploma, master's, and doctoral programs. Dr. Rana Abdelbadi Zahran was selected as the coordinator of postgraduate studies for the department for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The council also discussed the adoption of the postgraduate studies plan for the first semester, the formation of a committee to monitor the postgraduate educational process, and the formation of committees responsible for the doctoral qualifying exam and its procedures.

The proposed procedures stipulate that the exam will be graded out of 100 points, with sections dedicated to English language and scientific research methodologies. The exam will be administered as a single paper, aiming to assess the researcher's readiness and prepare them to pursue their research path more effectively.

The council also discussed the formation of a committee to review the applications of postgraduate candidates for diploma, master's, and doctoral programs, and to approve the progress reports submitted by faculty members regarding master's and doctoral researchers. This will enhance academic monitoring of researchers and improve the quality of scientific research.

Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky Gaballah, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education at Zagazig University, emphasized that the faculty is giving great attention to developing the educational system within its departments and academic programs, and working to prepare early for the new academic year to ensure the smooth running of the educational process and the achievement of the highest quality standards.

He pointed to the crucial role of the Educational Media Department in preparing media and educational professionals capable of navigating the rapidly evolving media landscape. He emphasized the necessity of aligning courses, graduation projects, and field training with real-world issues and societal needs, ensuring that students possess practical application skills alongside academic knowledge.

The Dean stressed that developing the graduate studies and scientific research system is a cornerstone of the college's strategy. He underscored the importance of providing a supportive academic environment for researchers and adhering to the regulations governing the educational and research process. This, he explained, will contribute to enhancing the department's output and strengthening the college's academic standing.

The Educational Media Department Council's work at the start of the new academic year is part of a comprehensive vision aimed at integrating education, field training, scientific research, and community service. This vision also focuses on strengthening monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, developing programs and courses, and supporting students and researchers at all academic levels. The convening of the council and its discussion of these diverse issues confirms that preparations for the 2026/2027 academic year are not limited to organizational aspects, but extend to building an integrated academic system that prioritizes the quality of education, student development, and the advancement of scientific research.
