A remarkable achievement for the Faculty of Specific Education at Zagazig University: The Can Art Egypt team wins second place in the University Waste Management Hackathon.
 
In a new achievement added to the record of student excellence and creativity at the Faculty of Specific Education, Zagazig University, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Khaled El-Darandaly, President of the University, the Can Art Egypt team, affiliated with the Faculty, won second place at the Zagazig University level in the University Waste Management Hackathon. The competition concluded on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after running from August 24 to 30, 2026, with the participation of several outstanding student projects from across the university.
 
The competition came within the framework of Zagazig University's commitment to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, and encouraging students to develop creative and applicable solutions to address environmental and societal challenges. This was done in cooperation with the Fund for the Care of Innovators and Talented Individuals. The competition saw the participation of nine student projects that underwent an intensive program of training, development, and mentorship, culminating in final presentations and evaluation before judging panels. The Center for Project Management, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and International Ranking at the Faculty of Specific Education participated in the hackathon under the supervision of Professor Dr. Yasser Abdel-Aal Selim, the Center's Director. This participation reflects the Center's role in discovering student ideas and talents, providing necessary support and guidance to innovators, and enhancing their ability to transform their ideas into projects of real value.
 
The Can Art Egypt team presented an outstanding model throughout the competition, culminating in their second-place finish at the university level. This achievement reflects the diverse creative abilities of the Faculty of Specific Education students and the innovative solutions that specialized disciplines can offer, transcending the academic framework to address environmental, social, and sustainable development issues.
 
The team was supervised by Professor Dr. Amani Fawzy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Art Education and Director of the Projects Unit at the Center for Project Management, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and International Ranking at the Faculty, who contributed to supporting and monitoring the team throughout the competition. Professor Akmal Shawky Gaballah, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education at Zagazig University, expressed his sincere pride in this outstanding achievement, congratulating the Can Art Egypt team and all participating students. He praised their work, which reflects their creative abilities and their commitment to applying their knowledge and specialization to provide innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
 
The Dean emphasized that the Faculty's team of Specific Education students winning second place at the university level in a competition related to waste management and environmental issues represents a significant accomplishment. This achievement reflects the diversity of creative fields within the Faculty and its ability to prepare students who possess not only academic knowledge but also creative thinking, innovation, teamwork, and the ability to transform ideas into viable projects. Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky also commended the role of the College's Center for Project Management, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and International Ranking in discovering and nurturing student talent. He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Center's management, headed by Professor Dr. Yasser Abdel-Aal and Professor Dr. Amani Fawzy, in supporting and assisting the team to reach this distinguished level.
